The Eplan Platform: A foundation for efficient engineering

The Eplan Platform brings together software solutions for various engineering disciplines. Using piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, detailed evaluations, control cabinet layouts in 3D and machine cabling in 3D, a complete digital twin of the automation systems for your machine or plant system is created in the process.

Eplan is the standard for electrical engineering. The easy exchange of projects allows plant operators to work together with machine and plant system manufacturers as well as their control cabinet manufacturers using a standardised foundation of data.

Having a free choice between graphic and data-oriented working methods makes it easy for different user groups to integrate Eplan into their everyday work. Electrical engineering designs can be easily standardised with flexible circuit templates and subcircuits. Recurring circuits can be stored in libraries and combined into new schematics specific to each current project.

Integration into existing systems

The Eplan Platform can easily be integrated into your existing IT landscape. For instance, it can be integrated into ERP and PDM systems using standardised interfaces. The digital data from electrical engineering can also be used directly for the manufacturing of control cabinets and the cabling of machines and plant systems. In the field of automation technology, standard PLC planning and programming systems can also be linked directly using standardised formats.

The new Eplan Platform 2026 focuses even more intensively on your benefits, simplifies our portfolio and makes it possible for you to design your processes to be even more efficient and consistent. This applies to all project phases, from concept development to detail engineering to manufacturing, and also even includes commissioning and operations.

For the Eplan Platform 2026, we have fundamentally reworked the products and enormously expanded their functionality. Previously optional extensions are now standard features in the various expansion levels. The cloud-based Eplan Collaboration Apps, the Eplan Data Portal, Parts management – eStock and Data management – eManage are all included in the scope of services provided in Eplan Electric P8, Eplan Pro Panel and Eplan Preplanning.

The Eplan Download Center is now available for every Eplan user. Software, tools and licence information can now all be directly accessed at eplan.com. Users can further find information about the release currently in use as well as customised updates, which also allow larger jumps to update older versions of the software with just a click.

Eplan Data Portal: now with direct access

In the new version, the Parts management allows direct access to device selection in the Eplan Data Portal. Users no longer have to switch between the Platform and the Portal. Just a click in Eplan Electric P8 brings you directly to device selection in the Portal and the required project data can immediately be downloaded.

This also applies to cloud-based Parts management. Such data can now also be even more precisely described with more than 400 new properties.

Couldn’t directly find what you were looking for? We’ve expanded the search options for this. You can now search for multiple objects in multiple locations. So that you can quickly and easily find what you’re looking for – without interrupting your workflow.

Eplan Pro Panel: Individualised views of the control cabinet

Users are being efficiently supported in Eplan Pro Panel with up to ten different views of a project. Application-specific views of the control cabinet being designed can be saved and viewed from different perspectives. This significantly speeds up the intuitive navigation in 3D.

Improved wire routing

The new “Wiring Manager” dialogue improves the routing of wires. Access to projects is thereby easier and more convenient because all the wiring information can be managed from a central dialogue, thereby giving you a better overview.
