Marchiani – a collaboration in continuous development
“Marchiani Flavio S.n.C.” took its first steps in the automation of production processes in the early 2000s in Collecchio (Parma). Since then, the company has developed significantly into today’s Marchiani S.r.l. – an organization that manages production process automation end to end: from the design of dedicated software to the installation of systems and electrical enclosures, with strong expertise in turnkey projects.
A collaboration in continuous development
Active in many countries around the world, Marchiani focuses on five primary application areas: development and revamping of bottling lines, implementation of high-speed packaging lines, PC-based supervision solutions for Industry 4.0 lines, construction and modernization of coating systems, and the development of process systems such as those for osmosis and ozonation, both in pharmaceutical environments and in standard industrial contexts.
Technological progression
The relationship with Rittal is long-standing and dates back to the company’s early operational years. Initially, it was product quality that led Marchiani to adopt Rittal solutions. Over time, the company also came to value the advantages of seamless integration with the Eplan offering. Today, the range of Rittal solutions used by Marchiani is broad and includes enclosure systems of several types and sizes – from VX series enclosure systems and AX compact enclosures through to operator consoles, primarily in painted steel.
From the outset, Marchiani also adopted Eplan engineering software. “Our first license even dates back to Eplan 5,” explains Francesco Marchiani, owner of Marchiani. “In addition to the Eplan Platform, we now use several modules like Eplan Pro Panel. Over the years we have come to appreciate both the flexibility and the continuous technological evolution of the Eplan solutions.”
This evolution has gradually aligned the portfolios of Rittal and Eplan, creating increasing synergy and strengthening the value Marchiani can deliver to its customers. The real turning point was the adoption of a holistic system approach that, through digitalization, connects the companies of the Friedhelm Loh Group – starting with Rittal and Eplan – ever more closely.
The product foundation is formed by Rittal enclosure systems, complemented by Rittal configurators, Eplan engineering software and the machining systems of the Rittal Automation Systems division. Together, these elements are essential building blocks for creating fully digitalized, end-to-end solutions and enabling truly intelligent production.
Continuous optimization
Recently, Marchiani decided to further increase the level of integration in its electrical enclosure engineering and production processes. The trigger was the introduction of Eplan Pro Panel, which opened up a clear path for the next stage of development.
“When we introduced Eplan Pro Panel and started to develop all our projects in 3D – first for on-machine systems and then also for the electrical enclosures – we realized how much additional potential we had,” says Marchiani.
From there, it was a small step to bringing mechanical customization in-house with an automated system that is fully compatible with the Eplan software landscape and the Rittal enclosure systems already established in the company. “We quickly realized that we could optimize our production flow even further by performing the mechanical processing internally as well.”
Marchiani invested in a fully automated Perforex machining center from Rittal. This solution enables machining of painted sheet steel, galvanized steel (AISI 304/316), stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and plastic. Thanks to the new Rittal Perforex solution, Marchiani can customize enclosure systems with remarkably high efficiency and precision, ensuring they correspond exactly to the 3D models created in Eplan Pro Panel. The digital workflow from engineering to mechanical processing remains consistent throughout.
Evolving scenarios
“The objective for the future is to continuously optimize both workflow and product quality at Marchiani,” concludes Francesco Marchiani. “We therefore do not rule out further investments in solutions that help us pursue these goals.”
The combination of Rittal system technology, the Eplan Platform and automated machining centers already gives Marchiani a clear competitive advantage today – and provides a robust basis for future growth, higher productivity, and new requirements in industrial automation.
