EPLAN Platform 2023

Experienced Here you can find out how to migrate your old Access article database to the EPLAN article database

The article database has been revised to the current version. There is now an article database in the internal EPLAN format *.alk with the corresponding directory *.adb.
The EPLAN article database replaces the existing Access database (*.mdb) from previous versions.

Migration of old article database

  1. Staring the EPLAN Platform.
  2. On the ribbon, select the Master Data tab > Items command group > Expandable Administration button > Settings.
  3. The dialog "Settings: Article (User)" opens.
  4. Select the desired schema, which is configured with the old Access article database.
  5. The new dialog "New Article Database Technology" opens.
  6. Confirm the query with [Yes].
  7. The "Migrate Article Database" dialog opens.
  8. In the "Existing article database" section, check that your existing Access database is selected.
  9. Now create your new article database in the area "New article database", assign a meaningful file name starting with your company ID (XYZ) e.B. "[XYZ]_Artikel.alk".
    • Check the current or desired location of the new article database!
  10. Confirm your entry with [Ok].
  11. Articles are transferred to a new article database.
  12. After successful migration, check the entry at the database source under "EPLAN". A "*.alk" article database must now be entered there.
  13. Ready!

Hint:

During a migration, not only is the data transferred to a new article database, but the old Access article database is also updated. As a result, this article database can be opened in older EPLAN versions, e.B. for article or device selection, but cannot be edited. An Access database is backed up during migration (e.B. ESS_part001 backup 1.mdb).

Further information can be found here: Migration of old article databases (eplan.help)

To be able to display article data from the new article management in an old article management, the new action "Compare article databases" (XPamArticlesSyncAction) is available in the EPLAN Platform.

The transfer of the article data is only possible to an updated article database (version 140). In order for such an article database to be available to you, a migration must have taken place beforehand. An updated article database can be opened after comparison in older EPLAN versions (version 2.9 or older), e.B. for article or device selection, but not edited.

We recommend that you carry out these steps together with the EPLAN Consulting Team. Contact us via the contact button below. Further information can also be found here: Migration of old article databases (eplan.help)
