Behind the Series: Race to the Finish Line - One Week Left

In the fourth installment of our six‑part miniseries, Race to the Finish Line, the UT Longhorn Racing Solar team enters the integration phase. One week. Hundreds of wires. One goal. What’s new this year? The team leveled up using Eplan Education. Full 3D models, professional-grade harnessing, and cleaner routing that turned a chaotic "bird nest" of wires into a high-performance machine.

Achieve Precision with Eplan

In solar racing, the final week before competition is about proving your design can survive. In Episode 4 of our miniseries, Race to the Finish Line, we see the UT Longhorn racing team transition from "parts on a bench" to "car on the road."

A standout theme this season is the notable leap in their electrical organization. In previous years, harnessing was often a hurdle that slowed down the final integration, but this year, with Eplan Education, the team moved into 3D modeling and advanced panel mounting. This resulted in a cleaner, more reliable system that enabled the team to troubleshoot sensor and communication issues in record time.

A Culture of Dedication

Success in 2025 Formula Sun Grand Prix requires grit and dedication, in addition to good software. We witnessed the LHR Solar team traveling back from internships every weekend to keep the project on track. It all paid off when the car successfully drove across the shop floor, marking the first time in the team’s history that they had a drivable vehicle a full week before the race.
