EPLAN Platform 2022

Find out here how to migrate your old Access parts database to the EPLAN parts database

The parts database has been revised to the current version. There is now an parts database in the internal EPLAN format *.alk with the corresponding directory *.adb.
The EPLAN parts database replaces the existing Access database (*.mdb) from previous versions.

Migration of old parts database

  1. Staring the EPLAN Platform.
  2. On the ribbon, select the Master Data tab > Parts command group > Expandable Administration button > Settings.
  3. The dialog "Settings: Parts(User)" opens.
  4. Select the desired schema, which is configured with the old Access parts database.
  5. The new dialog "New parts database technology" opens.
  6. Confirm the query with [Yes].
  7. The "Migrate parts database" dialog opens.
  8. In the "Existing parts database" section, check that your existing Access database is selected.
  9. Now create your new parts database in the area "New parts database", assign a meaningful file name starting with your company ID (XYZ) e.B. "[XYZ]_Parts.alk".
    • Check the current or desired location of the new parts database!
  10. Confirm your entry with [Ok].
  11. Parts are transferred to a new parts database.
  12. After successful migration, check the entry at the database source under "[XYZ]_PARTS.alk" parts database must now be entered there.
  13. Ready!

Hint:

During a migration, not only is the data transferred to a new parts database, but the old Access parts database is also updated. As a result, this parts database can be opened in older EPLAN versions, e.B. for parts or device selection, but cannot be edited. An Access database is backed up during migration (e.B. ESS_part001 backup 1.mdb).

Further information can be found here: Migration of old parts databases (eplan.help)

To be able to display parts data from the new parts management in an old parts management, the new action "Compare parts databases" (XPamArticlesSyncAction) is available in the EPLAN Platform.

The transfer of the parts data is only possible to an updated parts database (version 140). In order for such an parts database to be available to you, a migration must have taken place beforehand. An updated parts database can be opened after comparison in older EPLAN versions (version 2.9 or older), e.B. for parts or device selection, but not edited.

We recommend that you carry out these steps together with the EPLAN Consulting Team. Contact us via the contact button below. Further information can also be found here: Migration of old parts databases (eplan.help)
