EPLAN recommendations

  • When updating the system, it is important to ensure that the EPLAN License Manager (ELM) is always available in the latest version.
  • Make sure that you have all the necessary information on the previous configuration of the EPLAN License Manager (ELM).
  • An installed EPLAN License Manager as 32-bit version (x86) must be uninstalled before you install or update the 64-bit version!
  • If you have borrowed licenses from the EPLAN License Manager to be updated, you must return them before updating.
  • You have two EPLAN License Managers in your company network (Primary License Manager and Standby License Manager). In this case, you must always update the primary License Manager first when updating.
We recommend that you carry out installations in the network together with the EPLAN Consulting Team. Contact us via the contact button below.

Installation

  1. Unzip the EPLAN download file (.zip) to the desired location.
  2. Open the unzipped folder to "...\ELM\License Manager".
  3. Run the "Setup.exe", via right mouse button "Run as administrator".
    • Your settings in the "DCOM" and "Services" sections are automatically applied by running the setup.exe file.
  4. In the opened dialog, select [Install], Accept the license terms.
  5. Then set up your EPLAN License Manager again according to your specifications.
    • After updating your EPLAN License Manager to the latest version, your license scope is no longer available. You must activate your Entitlement again. Without reactivating your license, you will retain the license scope of the previous version.
  6. In the Primary License Manager - Configurator dialog, bring the Activate tab to the foreground.
  7. Enter the new entity element in the EID field, click the [Activate Online] button.
    • If there is already an old entity element in the EID field, you can press the [Activate online] button directly. The check and update will then take place automatically.

Hint: The License Client should always be installed in the same version of the EPLAN License Manager. Check this on the client systems via the Programs and Features functionality of the operating system. Here you can recognize the installed version of the EPLAN License Client. If an EPLAN system uses an older version than the required version, first update the License Client of the affected system to the latest version.
